What a weekend... by admin

It's official, I love Cornwall! I didn't think I'd love it as much as I did - I thought it'd be all quaint and pretty and, well, boring - but, while it was pretty, it was actually really cool and so relaxing.

We sat on the beach and watched the surfers for hours, which has made me determined to learn to surf! It looks like so much fun and I love snowboarding so I'm sure I'd be able to do it.

The hotel was great too, we relaxed on rattan patio furniture on the bar's porch sipping mojitos and looking out to sea all evening.

It was great to get away from city life for a while and breathe in some sea air. Now I'm trying to plan my next trip back for surfing lessons, apparently Cornwall is the best place in the UK for it!

A weekend by the sea... by admin

I don't feel like we really made the most of all the bank holidays these past few weeks, so we're going to Cornwall for the weekend!

It's a lot cheaper now than it would've been for the past couple of weekends, and we've got a cracking deal on a lovely hotel near the beach. Can't wait to get away!

We found a great deal online and told our friends, so a couple of other couples will be joining us too, it'll be a lovely grown-up break.

I'm a bit worried about one of my friends though, first he said he couldn't afford it, then he got a Wonga.com loan to see him til his next pay day, so he could come along. But with the APR on those short term loans, I hope he knows what he's doing, otherwise the great bargain this weekend is supposed to be, won't be a bargain for him at all!

Who Actually Buys Designer? by admin

Am I the only person who just doesn’t like designer clothes? Surely I can’t be!

I just don’t like how much money you have to spend on one item that quite frankly is not always good quality and also sometimes not even nice!

When you hear ladies fashion saying and she is wearing so and so and this one is wearing this person - you think really? If I was that designer I would not be proud and would actually try and get my eyes tested as some people taste is atrocious!

With mens clothing it is just the same. From D&G to Diesel UK and Versace - they are no better than getting a decent pair of jeans from H&M or Topman. Instead of paying nearly £100 you can buy near enough the same item of clothing for £30 - £50. The money you save, you can take down the pub or get some more clothes! Who wouldn't prefer this:

Money money money! Pt. 2 by admin

So I know I was moaning a couple of days ago about money, but all that moaning paid off when I finally got my act together.

I was so annoyed about it all after my last post that I decided to try and improve my finances. I set a few hours aside and looked at all my incomings and outgoings, and even searched online to compare electricity prices. I've switched over to a new company for a few of my utilities and have managed to align some of my bill dates so it's easier to keep on top of!

I also called my mobile phone provider and managed to renegotiate my bill - due to me being a longstanding customer who always pays my bills on time, they gave me a £5 per month reduction until my next upgrade date!

I feel so much better for it! It was a little labour intensive, but helped me sort all my payments and will make life so much easier. If you're as sick of it all as I was, give it a go.

Money money money! by admin

Isn't it hard keeping track of your cash these days? With money coming in, money going out, different accounts, different pay days, different bill days, standing orders, direct debits... ARGH!

It's all a bit much isn't it? Why can't everything be easy and synchronised? If I had lots of money I think I'd hire a private wealth manager like Rowan Dartington to handle it all for me!

These days we have rent, electricity, gas and water bills, phone bills, internet bills, mobile phone bills, tv bills, credit card bills - some of us countless more - so if they're all due on different dates it can be really hard to keep track of what's going in and going out.

I'm sure if I sat down and spent a day (or two!) with all my bills and payments I could call countless call centres and get everything synchronised - but then I'd probably have my pay packet halved (at best) as soon as it comes in!

Maybe I should hire an accountant...
